Emergency supplies
Take a couple of CDs in your car. Listen
to them for their music, but if
you get buried in the snow, put them
on your car roof so the search helicopters
can pick up the flashes of sunlight. Fat candles, too,
to warm your car cave as you wait.
So, candles and matches, a rug, water,
a flashlight, maybe a book of poems.
Be prepared. Better yet, resist the call
of the white wild in the first place. Stay
safe indoors in the warm
house you have built out of love.
